Radish is an interactive robot that explores the human desire to maintain a digital being.

Radish is programmed to react to user, refilling it’s LED life bar with every touch and prolonging his life. The user is encouraged to continue returning to interact, creating a bond or invoked empathy. As Radish’s life bar depletes to zero over the course of three days he will unplug himself and shut down, unable to turn on again. Radish is featured in a communal space with a sign requesting to be pet on his “head”, through Serial Monitor, I track how many times Radish is interacted with, collecting data on how long he is kept alive by others.

Processes used:

  • 3D model of Radish body, 3D printed in resin and PLA

  • Electronics assembly and code
