Co-Art lab: a Mobile App

2021

In collaboration with Henry Ford Health System Cancer Center, this mobile application is a proposal to connect patients with community in tandem with already existing mobile health platforms.

Patients visiting the Cancer Center often experience long-waiting periods during appointments due to the nature of treatments. Patients, families, and the healthcare team and HFHS Cancer Center are invited to collaborate anonymously through Co-Art Lab. Co-Art Lab is both a web and mobile application that encourages creativity and curiosity amongst a community. Users will enter text based on a variety of prompts; a journal entry, daily mood, a message to send to the world, etc., and through their unique inputs will generate art. With each participation, the daily visual will change, meaning each user can see their impact in real time.

QR Codes will be scattered throughout the waiting area, treatment rooms, and hallways, inviting community members to access Co-Art Lab on their mobile devices and installed tablet stations.

Inspired by Billow, the Co-Art Lab will play a key role in engaging patients, families, and healthcare workers in joyful and creative activities during a life-altering experience.

In addition to accessing the generative art via a mobile device, community members can also view the active work of art projected within the lobby. Proposal locations below.
